Genesis of The Sanity Project
On two occasions, the Republican Party – with extensive contributions from The Heritage Foundation – has authored documents that have defined policies for entire administrations and beyond.
In 1994, House Speaker Newt Gingrich and House Republican Conference Chair Dick Armey drafted the Contract With America. With signatures from 367 Republican lawmakers, and many of the policy ideas originating with The Heritage Foundation, the Contract allowed the GOP to flip 54 seats and claim the majority in the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years.
The Heritage Foundation enlisted over 100 organizations to create Project 2025, which became the blueprint for expanded executive power in the second Trump Administration.
The Democratic Party has never created an equivalent platform document.
It would be the height of arrogance to assume that a single individual, certainly not an old man in Colorado without credentials or influence, even with an assist from AI for research and proofreading (not writing), could author a platform to guide the Democratic Party the way Republican efforts have done in the past.
But, hopefully, this will help initiate the conversation. I invite visitors to contribute, debate, expand, and otherwise improve The Sanity Project.
And maybe, just maybe, win some elections.
